Summary:<\/strong>\u00a0The project aims to drastically reduce the population of the Tokay Gecko (Gekko gecko<\/em>), a reptile native to Southeast Asia that has become invasive in Martinique, where it threatens native species such as the Turnip-tailed Gecko (Thecadactylus rapicauda<\/em>) and the Saint Vincent Least Gecko (Sphaerodactylus vincenti<\/em>). It relies on an innovative method combining the installation of artificial shelters and the manual capture of individuals. A public awareness campaign accompanies the field actions to promote acceptance of invasive species management measures.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

The GEKKOMAR project builds on the results of the MERCI project<\/a> (2021\u20132023), led by Caribaea Initiative with the support of Interreg Caribbean, which made it possible to develop an adapted capture method.
