Les amphibiens, qui sont en d\u00e9clin \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale, peuvent ainsi voir leur reproduction boulevers\u00e9e par d\u2019autres esp\u00e8ces dont les vocalisations sont trop similaires ou d\u00e9rangeantes et perturbent leur communication. A Cuba, les scientifiques s\u2019inqui\u00e8tent du risque d\u2019invasion de la grenouille <em>Leptodactylus fragilis<\/em>, une esp\u00e8ce d\u00e9j\u00e0 r\u00e9pandue en Am\u00e9rique centrale et qui a r\u00e9cemment \u00e9t\u00e9 observ\u00e9e dans deux localit\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00eele. Pour mieux anticiper ce risque \u2013 et pouvoir r\u00e9agir en cons\u00e9quence par des mesures adapt\u00e9es &#8211; Sergio del Castillo et ses coll\u00e8gues ont utilis\u00e9 une double approche innovante. Dans un premier temps, des outils de mod\u00e9lisation ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9s. En se basant sur les caract\u00e9ristiques climatiques de nombreuses localisations continentales o\u00f9 l\u2019esp\u00e8ce est connue pour \u00eatre naturellement pr\u00e9sente, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a pu extraire les param\u00e8tres critiques permettant \u00e0 l\u2019esp\u00e8ce de prosp\u00e9rer, et ainsi extrapoler pour obtenir une carte de Cuba d\u00e9taillant toutes les zones d\u2019habitat potentiel pour la grenouille. La carte a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 peaufin\u00e9e pour exclure les types de milieux inadapt\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019esp\u00e8ce.<\/p>\n<p>Dans un deuxi\u00e8me temps, les scientifiques se sont pench\u00e9s sur les caract\u00e9ristiques acoustiques de l\u2019esp\u00e8ce. Dur\u00e9e des vocalisation, intervalles entre deux ou encore fr\u00e9quence ont ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 extraits \u00e0 partir d\u2019enregistrements sonores de plusieurs individus. Des exp\u00e9riences sur le terrain ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9es, \u00e0 l\u2019aide de haut-parleurs, pour \u00e9valuer le potentiel de propagation \u2013 et donc d\u2019invasion de la niche acoustique d\u2019autres esp\u00e8ces \u2013 des vocalisations de la grenouille dans diff\u00e9rents milieux.<\/p>\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats de l\u2019\u00e9tude indiquent que l\u2019esp\u00e8ce pourrait investir une grande partie de l\u2019\u00eele, en particulier des milieux ouverts o\u00f9 ses vocalisations se propagent efficacement. Ces milieux abritent d\u00e9j\u00e0 des esp\u00e8ces locales d\u2019amphibiens. La comparaison des caract\u00e9ristiques acoustiques de ces derni\u00e8res avec <em>L. fragilis<\/em> a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 une grande similarit\u00e9 de l\u2019esp\u00e8ce invasive avec la grenouille <em>Peltophryne empusa<\/em>. End\u00e9mique de Cuba, cette esp\u00e8ce pourrait ainsi \u00eatre directement affect\u00e9e par l\u2019invasion de la nouvelle esp\u00e8ce sur son aire de r\u00e9partition. Bien qu\u2019inqui\u00e9tants, ces r\u00e9sultats constituent une aubaine pour prendre des mesures \u00e0 temps qui pourraient pr\u00e9venir ou limiter l\u2019invasion.
