Les oiseaux en particulier ont \u00e9t\u00e9 suivis gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 trois m\u00e9thodes diff\u00e9rentes, avec un triple objectif\u00a0: mieux conna\u00eetre la biodiversit\u00e9 de cette for\u00eat, \u00e9valuer l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 et la compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9 des diff\u00e9rentes m\u00e9thodes de suivi employ\u00e9es, et former des \u00e9tudiants \u00e0 ces techniques sp\u00e9cifiques. <\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Connaitre l\u2019abondance des individus de certaines esp\u00e8ces ou populations permet d\u2019en d\u00e9finir le statut de conservation, et d\u2019en adapter les mesures de gestion le cas \u00e9ch\u00e9ant. \u00c9tudier les param\u00e8tres d\u00e9mographiques de plusieurs esp\u00e8ces en un lieu donn\u00e9 permet en outre de mieux comprendre leur \u00e9cologie : interactions (pr\u00e9dation, comp\u00e9tition), diff\u00e9rences de mode de vie (diurne vs nocturne), sociabilit\u00e9 ou encore pr\u00e9f\u00e9rences en termes d\u2019habitat.<\/p>\n<p>Sur le terrain, plusieurs techniques peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9es. Au cours du projet PROSPOVERG, trois m\u00e9thodes de suivi ont ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9es pour \u00e9tudier les oiseaux, mais \u00e9galement les mammif\u00e8res de la for\u00eat s\u00e8che de Poyen, en Guadeloupe\u00a0: une technique par capture-marquage-recapture (CMR), la mise en place de pi\u00e8ges photographiques, et l\u2019utilisation d\u2019enregistreurs acoustiques.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7528\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7528\" class=\"wp-image-7528 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Bagues-300x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Bagues-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Bagues-768x447.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Bagues.jpg 820w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7528\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bagues pour diff\u00e9rentes esp\u00e8ces d&rsquo;oiseaux<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Le premi\u00e8re technique (CMR) a consist\u00e9 \u00e0 installer des filets pour capturer les oiseaux en vol. Huit filets de 24 m\u00e8tres de long chacun ont ainsi \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s une fois par mois pendant deux ans, toujours aux m\u00eames endroits. Chaque animal captur\u00e9 fournit de pr\u00e9cieux renseignements\u00a0: esp\u00e8ce, taille, poids, sexe et stade de d\u00e9veloppement. Les oiseaux se voient dot\u00e9s d\u2019une bague \u00e0 la patte, comportant un num\u00e9ro unique, rendant leur identification possible lors des captures suivantes.<\/p>\n<p>Les deux autres m\u00e9thodes sont dites passives. Des appareils automatiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 install\u00e9s dans les m\u00eames zones que les filets, pendant quatre mois. Les pi\u00e8ges photographiques permettent d\u2019obtenir des images de chaque animal passant devant l\u2019objectif, celui-ci se d\u00e9clenchant apr\u00e8s d\u00e9tection d\u2019un mouvement. Les enregistreurs acoustiques permettent quant \u00e0 eux de capturer les sons ambiants, parmi lesquels des chants d\u2019oiseaux dont les esp\u00e8ces seront ensuite identifi\u00e9es. Cette fois, l\u2019enregistrement est programm\u00e9\u00a0: chaque heure pendant 24h, l\u2019appareil se met en route durant 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Ces trois m\u00e9thodes sont illustr\u00e9es <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/f0mFreDvxEI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">dans la vid\u00e9o suivante<\/a>, tourn\u00e9e sur le terrain, et expliqu\u00e9es par Christopher Cambrone, coordinateur scientifique du projet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Projet PROSPOVERG : Suivi de la faune d&#039;une for\u00eat s\u00e8che de Guadeloupe\" width=\"680\" height=\"383\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/f0mFreDvxEI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s deux ann\u00e9es de suivi, l\u2019heure est donc au bilan. L\u2019analyse des donn\u00e9es sur les quatre mois durant lesquels les trois techniques ont toutes \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9es confirme leur compl\u00e9mentarit\u00e9. En effet, les filets ne capturent que les oiseaux en vol, tandis que les appareils photos sont install\u00e9s \u00e0 20 cm du sol, et ne ciblent donc que les animaux utilisant la strate inf\u00e9rieure de la for\u00eat. Les enregistreurs sonores, quant \u00e0 eux, permettent de rep\u00e9rer les esp\u00e8ces les plus enclines \u00e0 vocaliser.<\/p>\n<p>Sur les deux ann\u00e9es de suivi, 27 esp\u00e8ces d\u2019oiseaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9tect\u00e9s par les trois m\u00e9thodes. Parmi elles, des oiseaux appartenant \u00e0 18 esp\u00e8ces diff\u00e9rentes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9s, et pr\u00e8s de 800 individus ont \u00e9t\u00e9 bagu\u00e9s. Pendant les quatre mois o\u00f9 elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 mise en place, la surveillance acoustique, tr\u00e8s efficace, a permis de d\u00e9tecter 26 esp\u00e8ces, tandis que seulement 10 esp\u00e8ces d\u2019oiseaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 photographi\u00e9es et autant d\u2019esp\u00e8ces ont \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9es pendant la m\u00eame p\u00e9riode.<\/p>\n<p>Parmi les esp\u00e8ces d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat, trois oiseaux end\u00e9miques des Petites Antilles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9pertori\u00e9s dans la for\u00eat de Poyen, le Moqueur grivotte (<em>Allenia fusca<\/em>), la Paruline caf\u00e9iette (<em>Setophaga plumbea<\/em>) et le Saltator gros-bec (<em>Saltator albicollis<\/em>), ainsi qu\u2019une esp\u00e8ce class\u00e9e en danger d\u2019extinction en Guadeloupe, le Pigeon \u00e0 couronne blanche (<em>Patagioenas leucocephala<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Les analyses permettent en outre d\u2019appr\u00e9cier l\u2019abondance de ces esp\u00e8ces et leur r\u00e9partition dans la for\u00eat de Poyen. Des donn\u00e9es sur les mammif\u00e8res ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 recueillies\u00a0: mangoustes, ratons-laveurs, chiens, chats et rats gr\u00e2ce aux pi\u00e8ges photographiques. La comparaison de ces donn\u00e9es avec celles des oiseaux permet de mieux comprendre les risques de pr\u00e9dation, notamment en \u00e9valuant les chevauchements spatio-temporels (possibilit\u00e9 de deux esp\u00e8ces de se trouver au m\u00eame endroit \u00e0 des moments identiques de la journ\u00e9e). Les mangoustes, seule esp\u00e8ce de mammif\u00e8re exotique envahissant diurne, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 particuli\u00e8rement photographi\u00e9es, et pr\u00e9sentent donc un risque important pour la faune aviaire de cette for\u00eat.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7541\" style=\"width: 499px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7541\" class=\"wp-image-7541 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Oiseaux_PROSPOVERG_FR_reduced-489x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"489\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Oiseaux_PROSPOVERG_FR_reduced-489x1024.jpg 489w, https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Oiseaux_PROSPOVERG_FR_reduced-143x300.jpg 143w, https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Oiseaux_PROSPOVERG_FR_reduced-768x1609.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Oiseaux_PROSPOVERG_FR_reduced-733x1536.jpg 733w, https:\/\/www.caribaea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Oiseaux_PROSPOVERG_FR_reduced.jpg 907w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 489px) 100vw, 489px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7541\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Au total, 18 esp\u00e8ces d\u2019oiseaux diff\u00e9rentes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 captur\u00e9es dans les filets au cours des 24 mois du suivi.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Le projet, d\u00e9but\u00e9 fin 2020, rel\u00e8ve d\u2019un partenariat entre AMAZONA (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazona-guadeloupe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.amazona-guadeloupe.com<\/a>), association contribuant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tude de l\u2019avifaune guadeloup\u00e9enne et \u00e0 la diffusion des connaissances, et Caribaea Initiative. Il aura fait intervenir plus d\u2019une trentaine de personnes, et permis la formation de deux stagiaires de master et deux \u00e9tudiants de th\u00e8se. Plusieurs sorties ornithologiques \u00e0 destination du grand public et des \u00e9tudiants ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9es dans le cadre de ce projet.<\/p>\n<p><em>Le projet PROSPOVERG a \u00e9t\u00e9 financ\u00e9 par l\u2019Office Fran\u00e7ais de la Biodiversit\u00e9.
